Responsible Coaching Award Winner

Justus's mom nominated him for this award through Liberty Mutual called the Responsible Coaching Award. Its for coaches that show they are good leaders in their fields and what they've accomplished. Justus went up against many other coaches from Utah from lots of sports. They took one or two coaches from each state as winners. The award was a $500 grant to go to their organization/team. And Justus was one of two winners from Utah. You can check out the website and see his little splurge they put up about him that his mom had entered to them when she nominated him. http://www.responsiblesports.com/the_responsible_coaching_awards/default.aspx?p=5&s=3&r=3

The Auto Show 2008

So Justus and I go to the auto show at the South Towne Expo every year becuase that was around the time that we went on our first date. So we got to see some nice cars there, and keep wishing we had enough money to buy our dream cars.

While we were walking around we heard this little boy saying "Dad? Dad? Dad?" and he was just walking around in the same area. So I watched him pretty closely to see if he found his dad. He didn't. And he just kept walking around kind of in the same area looking for his dad. I watched him and was following him just to make sure he found his dad. He still hadn't. So after a minute he stated crying and looking more frantic and peopel were just watching him. I finally went up to him and offered my help. He was about 4 or 5 years old, so was really scared and wouldn't talk. I told him I'd help him. So I was trying to ask him if he knew his name, his dads name, or what color of car they were last by when he got away from his dad. He didn't say a word but just stayed by me. I ended up taking him to security so they could handle the matter from there. They said they'd take him over where the PA system is and announce it over that so all could hear. I was worried that his dad might have left, because we didn't see any dads running around frantic looking for their missing son. When I was leaving the security room the boy looked so scared and kind of was looking at me like he wanted me to stay. He old lady that was working security looked very nice, so he was fine.

So we went back into the auto show looking at the cars. I, of coarse, was just worried about this little boy and if his dad had claimed him yet. It took almost 10 or 15 minutes before they announced it over the PA system. I'm sure they were trying to get the little boy to say his name or his dads name or anything. But when we went out to look at the exotic cars in the front of the show area, we saw the dad and little boy walking away together. The little boy was holding on to his dads arm so tight. I was very relieved that they were reunited...and it just goes to show that we all need to keep an eye on our little ones.

A Crazy Tuesday...mostly bad news...

I am so sad about the news of Heath Ledgers death. I almost started crying when I was at work and first saw the news break about it. It just had an empty feeling in my stomach. I hope his family is doing well and my prayers are with them, especially his daughter.
After I found out about Heath, I called my mom to ask her if she heard, because she was in a sewing class when the news was breaking. She answers the phone and says "The Crump's house is on fire!" They are in my parents ward, and we've known them for 15 years. They were remodeling their kitchen and apparently a floor collapsed or something. Luckily the only one that would have been home, Trish (mother), had left to take Nic (son) to some school thing. When she got home the house was on fire! Apparently she collapsed and had an ambulance come. Other than that, they are all fine.
What a tragic day.

CHRISTMAS SEATS!!!

Connor Singing Christmas Songs!!! So freaking cute!

Christmas 2007 was crazy busy! On Christmas Eve we went to my Grandparents house for our traditional Christmas Eve Dinner and gift exchange with my cousins and aunts and uncles. After that we headed over to Justus's parents house for our sleepover with everyone. All of his brothers and their wife/significant others were there. All the girls got PJ's from Victoria's Secret and all the guys got PJ's from Old Navy, so we were all nuggley warm!

(I had Jason's name, I got him an R2D2 Mr. Potatoe head!)
Christmas morning we did the usual Christmas picture on the stairs with his family, and then our walk down to the room with the presents and tree. We all act like we are surprised, even though we aren't. Then we opened presents there.

After we were done we headed over to my parents to eat breakfast and do presents there. Connor got so spoiled! We got him a Barcelona soccer uniform complete with socks! He loved that! He wore it all day long, and even took his nap in it.

We were so exhausted that we ended up needing a nap before we finished out the day. We got plenty of goodies for Christmas. We got lots of clothes, a few little minor things, and then my parents got us a computer and his parents got us a new blend, a new suitcase for me and Justus got a new soccer equipment bag. Thanks parents! We love you and greatly appreciate it!!

Annual Yankee Swap

My friend Jenny and her husband, Matt, started a tradition last year of our Christmas Yankee Swap party. For those of you that are not familiar with this, it is similar to a White Elephant party, but we started by bringing old/unused/unreturnable wedding presents. We stepped it up a notch this year. We had the ugly sweater/best holiday attire contest this year. Last year they tried to have it, but only the hosts and another couple were dressed up. We had trouble finding something, but in the end we just got some basic Christmas sweaters from WalMart. We couldn't wear them for very long, we got really hot in them. Then we also had the ginger bread house building contest, which we struggle with...we just can't think of anything to do thats creative, so we just do the basics. Then we have the yankee swap, and its great! We brought a nutcracker (which became the creepy nutcracker during the game, and then ended up being a hot item) and we re-gifted from last years yankee swap and brought back the glass bowl name place card holders. There were a couple of gifts that were brought back and reborn. We walked away with a waffle maker and an Andrei Kirilenko bobble head which is now sitting at my desk at work! Its truly a one of a kind party, and I hope it carries on for many years to come!
Our Gingerbread House

One of the winners, I told them it kind of looks like a temple

The bundle of gifts we were all giving!

Who doesn't want fingerless gloves, and then the finger tops to go with?!
