Annual Yankee Swap

My friend Jenny and her husband, Matt, started a tradition last year of our Christmas Yankee Swap party. For those of you that are not familiar with this, it is similar to a White Elephant party, but we started by bringing old/unused/unreturnable wedding presents. We stepped it up a notch this year. We had the ugly sweater/best holiday attire contest this year. Last year they tried to have it, but only the hosts and another couple were dressed up. We had trouble finding something, but in the end we just got some basic Christmas sweaters from WalMart. We couldn't wear them for very long, we got really hot in them. Then we also had the ginger bread house building contest, which we struggle with...we just can't think of anything to do thats creative, so we just do the basics. Then we have the yankee swap, and its great! We brought a nutcracker (which became the creepy nutcracker during the game, and then ended up being a hot item) and we re-gifted from last years yankee swap and brought back the glass bowl name place card holders. There were a couple of gifts that were brought back and reborn. We walked away with a waffle maker and an Andrei Kirilenko bobble head which is now sitting at my desk at work! Its truly a one of a kind party, and I hope it carries on for many years to come!

One of the winners, I told them it kind of looks like a temple

The bundle of gifts we were all giving!

Who doesn't want fingerless gloves, and then the finger tops to go with?!
