Learning to Surf
My sister-in-law Katie met a guy on the beach at a meeting who worked at one of the surfing stands that teaches you how to surf. He said he'd hook her up with lessons so she asked me to go with her. We got up nice and early and were out there at 6am. Lessons were free, so that was great for us!
Remember the 4 steps!
Me and Katie practicing our steps on the beach
Don't we look like pro's? The guy in the backround is Raynard, our coach
Off to the ocean to try our luck at it
Whats the hardest part for beginners? Paddling out!!
Check me out! I'm a natural
I've totally got a groove for surfing!!

That was so much fun, I can't wait to try it in Cali at the end of the month!
The Beginning of the Trip...
The reason for the whole trip was for a soccer tournament called Western Regionals. This is where all the State Champions in the 15 western states gather together once a year to play each other. From there, the winners in the older age groups can go the the Nation tournament. Justus's Under-12 team was the state champs in their age group so were fortunate enough to qualify to go to this tournament. Its held in different states every year, next year, California. The complex in Hawaii is one of the nicest we have ever seen. The grass is perfect and the fields are strictly for soccer use. Awesome!
